Oscars 2016 declared, Leonardo won his first. See the complete list of winners

Oscars awards 2016 have been declared and finally after wait of years and myriad of movies that have earned cult status, Leonardo DiCaprio won himself the maiden Oscars for best actor. It is his 45th award out of 162 nominations but the very first Academy award.

He was the front runner in 2014 with The Wolf of the Wall Street but lost to Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club). Earlier he won Oscars nominations for What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, The Aviator, Blood Diamond. There were high hopes, though, from The Revenant this year and the Mexican director, Alejandro González Iñárritu, didn’t disappoint him either.

Alejandro won Oscars for Best Director as well for The Revenant making this two in a row after he won same award for Birdman last year. Spotlight got crowned as the Best Movie while Best actress award went to Brie Larson for Room.

Mad Max : Fury Road  Spotlight - Best Movie

Mad Max : Fury Road won 6 out of the 10 nominations and almost clean swept the technical category.
